Lois Ward Henry, 91, of New Market, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at Kline Hospice House. She was the wife of George Clay Henry.
Born December 12, 1925 in Pitkin, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Frankie and Normal Ward.
Lois lived in numerous places in Louisiana because her father worked in the oil industry. She graduated from high school in Minden, LA, and in 1945, she worked a civil servant job for the Agriculture Service in Ruston, LA.
She married George Clay Henry in 1946 and brought three fine sons into the world, Benjamin Bradford, Robert Clay and Frank Ward.
After moving to Washington, DC in 1966, she worked as an administrator for the US Navy until her retirement in 1985.
She loved gardening, traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
A very religious lady, Lois was a member of Tri-County Baptist Church in Damascus.
In addition to her husband and sons, she is survived by grandchildren, Allison Crain, Allan Henry, Bradford Henry, Taylor Henry, Todd Stegal, Tanya Stegal, and Ben Henry, Jr.; and great grandchildren, Austin Henry, Curtis Crain, and Allan Crain.
Lois was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of her life will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Tri-County Baptist Church, 7821 Damascus Rd., Damascus, MD 20872. The family will receive friends at church one hour prior to services.
