Lloyd Vaughn

Mr. Lloyd Kenneth "Ike" Vaughn, 84, of Emmitsburg died peacefully Friday morning, December 19, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara Louise Vaughn. They were married for 52 years prior to her death in 2002.

Born January 14, 1930 near Taneytown, he was the son of the late William and Carrie (Wantz) Vaughn.

Ike was a dairy delivery driver for 40 years, having worked for Ideal Farms Dairy and Sealtest Dairy. Following his retirement, he worked at the Provincial House in Emmitsburg and part-time at Keepers Esso, later known as the Exxon station. It was here that Lloyd was given the nickname of "Ike".

He was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan, and he enjoyed going to Charles Town for the horse races. Ike also enjoyed playing a hand of Blitz. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

Ike is survived by six children, Debbie Wivell and husband, Ronnie, of Emmitsburg; Donna Seiss and husband, Gary, of Thurmont; Denny Vaughn of Emmitsburg; Dwayne Vaughn and wife, Charmaine, of Thurmont; Douglas Vaughn and wife, Christine, of Falling Waters, WV; and Deana Szymanski and husband, Joe, of Libertytown; a daughter-in-law, Lori Vaughn of Thurmont; a sister, Dorothy Wantz of Harney; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, David Vaughn; and sisters, Velma Eyler, Helen Fleagle, Esther Horning, Mable Vaughn, Virginia Ridinger, and Mildred Peterson; and brothers, Ralph Vaughn, Earl Vaughn, Elwood Vaughn and David Vaughn.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, where funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim May.

Interment will follow in Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.
