Lisa Ann (Kline) Mills, 49, of Knoxville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 12, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on April 29, 1963 in Frederick, Maryland, she is the daughter of Richard E. and Mary Louise (Merryman) Lewis of Brunswick, Maryland and the late Gareth W. Kline.
Lisa attended Brunswick High School.
Growing up, Lisa was taught how to cook by her grandmother, Alma Merryman, who owned Alma's Diner in Jefferson, Maryland. In 1981, her grandmother retired and Lisa owned and ran the diner until 1987.
Lisa was president of the Boonsboro Athletic Association for several years and also ran the concession stand at South Mountain Little League. She will be fondly remembered for all of her volunteer work and her passion for cooking and cleaning.
She will be fondly remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She will also be remembered as "Momma Mills" to her children and their friends.
Lisa is survived by her three sons, Zachary L. Yinger of Hagerstown, Jeremiah N. Mills of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, and Jordon G. Mills of Knoxville; and her husband, Paul "Randy" Mills of Knoxville; three sisters, Wanda L. Kline and her husband, Arthur of Hagerstown, Monique E. Simons and her husband, John of Martinsburg, West Virginia and her step-sister, Richelle D. Lewis of Knoxville; a granddaughter, Kendall L. Yinger of Hagerstown; three aunts, Patsy Wastler of Frederick, Libby Adams and her husband, Paul of Myersville, and Brenda Ingram and her husband, Richard of Jefferson. Lisa is also survived by a special niece, Rachel Kocimski of Martinsburg, West Virginia; and two special nephews, Joshua and Toby Kline, both of Hagerstown; a special cousin, Robin Adams; and a special friend, Sandy Pipler. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her father, Lisa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Herbert B. and Alma (Karn) Merryman; and her paternal grandparents, Merle R. and Mary (Delauter) Kline.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. The Rev. R. Dallas Greene will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Locust Valley First Church of God Cemetery in Middletown, Maryland.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the funeral home.
