Linwood F. Snider Jr, 86, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, September 20, 2024, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Susan Snyder for a wonderful 12 years.

Born in Norwood, Mass. August 14, 1938, he was the son of the late Linwood F. Snider and Jean (Shepard) Snider and brother of Martha Jean Snider Franchetti. 

Lin was a graduate of Maryville College, and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood. He was a long-time resident of Middletown and Walkersville, retiring from Alcoa Eastalco after his career as the Human Resource Manager. An active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, he was also a member of MG-T and MG-A British car clubs. He spent many years working with John Tokar at Vintage Restorations Ltd in Union Bridge and also enjoyed serving as a docent at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick. His friendly smile, warm heart, and passionate storytelling will be missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched along the way.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his nieces Lisa Franchetti, husband Jim Sievert, and Meg Weber, and his great-nieces, Nicole, Danielle, and Isabel. Lin is also survived by a loving extended family. Lifelong friends Betsy Galliher; Michelle Chockran and daughter Jennifer; Anne-Marie Chockran, son Donald Colegrove and daughter Kelly Colegrove; goddaughter Laura Wertz, husband Bruce, daughter Ellie and son Peter; and goddaughter Emily Kilmon. Lin’s “girls,” as he called them - Lisa, Meg, Michelle, Anne-Marie, Laura and Emily - were truly blessed to have held a piece of Lin’s heart. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Jane Planitzer Snider, their daughter, Sara, and son, Linwood Frank “Frankie” Snider III.

A celebration of Linwood’s life journey will take place at a later date. Internment will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to: St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Walkersville MD 21793.
