Ms. Lindsay Patricia West, 34, passed away on May 23, 2013 at home in Frederick, Maryland.
Born May 16, 1979 in Mountain View, California, Lindsay was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was just a few months old, the complications of which left her profoundly mentally and physically handicapped. Despite her many challenges, Lindsay lived her life with joy. She loved to laugh, sing, give hugs, play ball, and make new friends.
Lindsay is survived by her parents, mother Patricia Barbarowicz and husband Charles Thomas and father Steve West and wife Jan, her sister, Shelley West, and her step-siblings Todd Starr, Kim Hotaling, and Chris Starr, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members. Lindsay will also be greatly missed by her many caregivers, teachers, nurses, and friends at Community Living, Inc. and the Human Development Council medical day program, who became like family to her over the years.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, in Frederick, Maryland on Tuesday, May 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Gerald C. Hanberry of the United Church of Christ.
