Linda Snyder

Mrs. Linda Marie Snyder, 56 of Frederick, MD., passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas W. Snyder.

Born November 27, 1954 in Montgomery County, Maryland, Linda was the daughter of the late Thomas and Shirley Nolan Smead.

Throughout her working career she focused on special needs children from her  earliest position at the Food and Drug Administration as a handicapped program manager, owner with her husband of a maternity clothing store in Germantown Maryland, and as a federal contractor. Since 1996she worked with the Frederick County Public Schools, first as a Special Education Assistant, then with the Autism Cadre and most recently as a teacher in the Challenges Program. Linda loved and formed a special bond with all the children she taught throughout the years. She and her husband Tom loved riding motorcycles and she was a life long supporter of the Washington Redskins. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Linda also loved the beach and all animals - especially her dogs.

In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by their daughter Lindsay Snyder and fiancé Mike Stein of York, PA.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Tuesday, November 30, from  3 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m., where a memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 1, at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Wakefield officiating.

Interment will be private.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to The Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 to support local community autism programs.
