Linda Mathews

Mrs. Linda Susan Mathews, 68, of Frederick died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at University of Maryland Medical Center from complications of a stroke. She was the wife of Jesse E. Mathews. They were married 48 years.
Born May 3, 1950 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Grable and Ruth (Smith) Grable.
Linda worked as an administrative assistant at Geico Insurance in Washington, DC for 47 years, until her retirement at age 65.
She loved to play bingo, computer word games, and she enjoyed traveling. Linda loved spending time with her family.
Linda loved life and continues to give the gift of life through organ donation.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Susie Campbell and husband, Jon, of Frederick, and Jennifer Wisner of Frederick; a son, Jason Mathews of Frederick; two grandchildren, Emma Mathews of Frederick, and Jacob Wisner of Frederick; two sisters, Gale Smith of Frederick and Glada Wetzel and significant other, Keith Wilkins, of Frederick; and a brother, Bo Smith and wife, Lori, of Frederick;
Linda was predeceased by her son-in-law, Stephen Wisner; three sisters, Barbara Jean Shugars, Glenda Paxton, Margie Griffith; and a brother, Tommy Smith.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim May officiating.
The family asks that those attending visitation and services for Linda to please dress casual.
Interment will follow in Utica Cemetery.
