Ms. Linda (Tippett) Howerton of Mt. Airy, Maryland, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 after at least a 14 year long heartbreaking battle with frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). Ms. Howerton was a beloved and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Born in Washington, D.C. on September 11, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Rose (Filewich) Tippett and Thomas Edgar Tippett. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Carin Howerton Hawkins (Dennis), Michael Howerton (Melissa), and Joe Howerton (Angie), five grandchildren, Kaylin, Paige and Faith Hawkins and Cole and Ben Howerton, and her brother and his wife Thomas Michael Tippett (Jeannie). She is the former spouse of Robert Howerton. Ms. Howerton was formerly a civilian Police Services Aide with the Montgomery County Police Department, a project accountant for Glen Construction and Santos Construction companies, a homemaker when her children were young, and a dedicated and compassionate caregiver to both of her parents or anyone else in need understanding or support. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Rd, Damascus, MD 20872, on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A light reception will immediately follow the Mass. Private interment will occur at a later date at All Souls Catholic Cemetery in Damascus, MD.
