Linda LaRue Dodson, 76, gained her angel wings on March 19, 2021.
Born March 31, 1944, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Thomas “Jack” Baker, Sr. and Margaret Ruth Etzler Baker.
She graduated from Frederick High School, Class of 1962. She retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. after many years of service. She also worked at Schroyer’s Recycling Center, Carousel Nails and the 75-80 Dragway. She was an auxiliary member for the Hyattstown Volunteer Fire Department and Urbana Volunteer Fire Departmnt for many years as well as volunteered at the carnivals.
Anyone that knew Linda would remember how much she loved everyone. She had an amazing sense of humor and laughed often. She never missed sending a card or a gift for special occasions. She especially had a heart for children. Linda loved collecting Betty Boop, coins and angels. She loved crocheting, word search books, reading and putting together puzzles.
She is survived by her sisters Mary Boyer, Betty Wilcom (husband Bill) and Dorothy “Dottie” Lenhart, sister-in-law Debbie Baker and brother-in-law Ray Smith. She is also survived by her granddaughter Dawn Dodson Norris (husband Jack), great granddaughter Alivea Lafavor (husband Nick), great grandsons, Gaven Norris and Austin Norris and great-great granddaughter Emilia Lafavor. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Perry Baker (wife Teresa), Sherrie Miller (husband Bill), Larry Baker (wife Karen), Terry Ifert (husband Perry), Gerry Smith (husband Paul), Rhonda Wade (husband Michael), Ronnie Wilcom (wife Jeanne), Brian Boyer (wife Carole Ann), Mark Boyer (wife Vickie), Donna Cramer (husband Bob), Thomas Lenhart (wife Michelle), Karen DeGrange (husband Charles) and Douglas Lenhart. She is also survived many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her best friend Bonnies’ grandchildren: God-son Cedric Graczkowski, and his special sister Kymaira Graczkowski. She loved these two as if they were her own children.
She is survived by two special women who helped her in her finals years, picking up groceries, medication, banking, and just enjoying lunches and spending time together. They were her special cousin and long-time friend, and caregiver Terry Ringer and cousin and friend Pat Langowski.
Linda was preceded in death by her infant son and former husbands’ Richard William “Peck” Roelke and Bedford Ashby Dodson, brother Arthur Thomas Baker, Jr., sister Marjorie Baker Smith, sister-in-law Mary Jean Baker and brother-in-laws Marion Thomas “Tommy” Boyer and Russell “Jake” Lenhart. She was also preceded in death by a very special best friend Bonnie Schroyer.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 24 at 11:00 am at Upper Seneca Baptist Church, 23401 Davis Mill Road, Germantown, MD 20876 by Janet Reister.
