Linda Brown

June 29, 1951 — November 30, 2021

Mrs. Linda Lucille (Rodger) Brown, 70, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and cherished family members in Heaven on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.  Linda passed peacefully after a quick, but valiant fight with a kidney infection at Frederick Health.

She was the wife of Barry L. Brown.  They were married July 8, 1971, in Falls Church, VA. They moved to Frederick, Maryland in 1981.  Mrs. Brown lived her early life in Hooversville, PA.

Born June 29, 1951, she was the eldest daughter of the late Kermit J. and Jenny L. (Riddell) Rodger.

Mrs. Brown graduated from Forbes High School in Kantner, PA, and attended Bethany College, Bethany, WV, and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Johnstown, PA.

She was employed as a secretary with Frederick County Public Schools for more than 20 years.  She was a member of MENSA, Frederick County Retired School Personnel Association, and the Carrollton Manor Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She practiced the Disciples of Christ faith.

Her interests included reading, genealogy, playing the piano, artistic crafts, spending time at the ocean, and visits with her cherished grandchildren.

She was an animal lover and avid sports enthusiast, closely following NASCAR races.  When her children were young, she served as a Brownie Troop Leader and a Junior Girl Scout Troop Leader at South Frederick Elementary School and at St. John's Regional Catholic School.  She participated actively in the Frederick County Retired School Personnel Association, working on various newsletters and committees.  Additionally, she was on the executive board of the Carrollton Manor Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving in many capacities.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Bethany married to Jeffrey John Harkawik of Frederick, MD, and Sarah married to Carl Almeida of Cary, NC; twin granddaughters, Natalia and Alexia Chavez-Brown of Frederick, MD, grandchildren Christopher and Jillian Harkawik of Frederick, MD, grandchildren David and Matthew Almeida of Cary, NC; two sisters, Kathryn married to Michael DeLaquil of Middletown, MD, and Dorcas married to Terry Mella of Oakton, VA. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

At Linda's request, there will be no visitation or services at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick, MD.

A private interment ceremony will be held at Rose Hill cemetery in Hagerstown, MD at a later date.
