Lillian Viola {Weedon} Lawson

Mrs. Lillian Viola (Weedon) Lawson, 95, of Adamstown, died on Friday, April 18, 2008 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a four month illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Royal F. Lawson, Sr. in 1992.

Born on February 9, 1913 in Frederick County she was the daughter of the late George and Fannie (Hall) Weedon.

Mrs. Lawson was an active and devoted member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church for over 70 years, where she served as; a member of the United Methodist Women, a communion steward, an usher, and a member of the church choir. For 20+ years she and her husband owned and managed Buck's Grocery Store, Adamstown. She was also employed with the Frederick County School Board as a bus driver and custodian. She was the founder and president of the Pleasant View Street Lights Committee. A wonderful homemaker, famous for her lemon meringue pies, Mrs. Lawson cherished and loved her family as well as all who knew her.

Mrs. Lawson is survived by 3 children; Royal F. Lawson, Jr. and wife Velma of Adamstown, Mary C. Lee of Frederick, Margaret A. Clark of Brunswick, 6 grandchildren; Mark Anthony Lawon and wife Shretta, David Wayne and wife Maika, and Michael Jerome Lawson and fiance Yolanda, Christy Michelle Lee, Beverly Lynn and Michelle Lillian Clark, 6 great-grandchildren; Acacia, Nia, Gabrielle, Myles, Lauren, and Naria Lawson, 2 brothers; James and Donald Weedon of Harrisburg, PA, sister Caroline Byrd of Hagerstown, brother-in-law Leon Jackson and wife Gladys, dear friends James and Rebecca Majett, Sr., and her 2 devoted pets Max and Sonny. She is also survived by numerous other relatives.

Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Frank, George, Howard and William Weedon, 2 sisters; Estelle Duckett and Dorothy Dunnock.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Tuesday, April 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sherman Mason, Jr. officiating. Interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
