From her teen years on, she was engaged in the arts, creating and performing marionette shows and writing extensively. She published three books, two books of poetry and a children's story. Poetry was her favorite form of expression.
She was married twice and had four children. She and her second husband, Roy E. Martin, were married for more than fifty years, traveling extensively before settling on Pryor Road.
