Lillian Banas

July 23, 1925 — April 18, 2015

Mrs. Lillian Therese Banas, 89, of Frederick, Maryland and formerly of Parma, Ohio, died peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Carl A. Banas, who predeceased her in 2001.

Born July 23, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Josephine (Chaberek) Vetomskie.

Lillian was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and gardening. An accomplished seamstress, she taught her daughter, Linda, how to sew at an early age. Lillian made many Raggedy Ann dolls, eventually passing down the pattern to Linda. Lillian moved to Frederick in 2007 to be with her daughter and her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Clement and husband, Jim, of Frederick, and Mare Ellison and husband, Steve, of South Carolina; two sons, Ronald Banas and wife, Cindy, of Parma, OH, and James Banas of North Royalton, OH.; six grandchildren, Christine Hilton, Catherine Clement, Sarah Puglisi, Brandie Eichler, Ryan Eichler, and Logan Ellison; and three great-grandchildren, Markell Eichler, Thomas Hilton and Erin Hilton.

Lillian was the last of her immediate family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, George Vetomskie, and a sister, Pauline Kingsley.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, and from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 24 at Tomon and Sons Funeral Home, 4772 Pearl Road, Cleveland. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25 from St. Francis de Sales, 3434 George Ave., Parma.

Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland.
