Mr. Lewis Edgar Lee, 91 of Frederick, MD, departed this life on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Northampton Nursing Home.
Born November 14, 1917 in Hopehill, he was the son of the late John Oliver and Vallie Diggs Lee.
Mr. Lee was educated in the Frederick County School System. He was a devoted member of Hopehill United Methodist Church, where he served as church janitor for many years and also served as a trustee.
Mr. Lee served his country in the United States Army during WWII from 1941 to 1945 as Pvt First Class. He worked in construction in various jobs most of his life. He loved baseball.
Mr. Lee is survived by three sisters, Vallie Johnson and Helen Lee both of Hopehill and Charlotte Gardiner of Washington, D. C., a brother-in-law Milton U. Randolph of Hopehill, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He will also be remembered by his devoted caretaker and niece Sandra Warfield and his cousin Carl Lee.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis E. Lee, Lloyd O. Lee, Raymond W. Lee, and two sisters, Edwina Randolph and Loretta Lee.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday, July 13, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Services:
Services will be held Tuesday, July 14, at 1:00 p.m. from the Hopehill United Methodist Church, 7641 Fingerboard Road, Frederick with Pastor Erma Dyson officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
