Lewis W. Miller, 87, of Charles Town, West Virginia died on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Willow Tree Manor Nursing Home in Charles Town.
Born on July 28, 1923, he was the son of the late Alvin L. and Bessie E. (Staubs) Miller.
Lewis was a lifelong resident of Washington County and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He spent most of his life working as a farmer.
He is survived by his former wife, Eva (Chaney) Miller Hewitt of Hagerstown, Maryland; two sisters, Shirley and her husband Harold Babington of Smithsburg, Maryland and Betty and her husband Maurice Payne of Knoxville, Maryland; one brother, Gerald Miller, Sr. of Knoxville, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be remember by his special caregiver Melissa Ault.
Lewis was preceded in death by his two sisters, Dorothy Huffer Haws and Jean Haws Mentzer; and three brothers Earl, Lester and John Miller.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rev. Alan M. Smith will officiate. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at the Old Brownsville Cemetery in Brownsville, Maryland.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home.
