Lewis Earl Trott, Jr., 76, of Keymar, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD. He was the beloved husband of Janet Trott. 

Born on May 28, 1948, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Lewis Earl, Sr. and Alice Ruth (Lewis) Trott. 

Lew proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, from 1967 - 1971 - he served in Two tours in Vietnam as a Boatswain on the USS Coral Sea CVA43 and spent the remainder of his time in Little Creek, Virginia as an Assault Boat Coxswain. He worked for the United States Postal Service from 1983-2012; named Postmaster of the Walkersville Post Office in 2004 until his retirement in 2012

Lew joined The American Legion in 1974. He belonged to Post 41 in Silver Spring, MD where he served two terms as post commander, one term as Montgomery County Commander and several years as Department Executive Committeeman. After moving to Keymar, MD, he transferred his membership to the Woodsboro American Legion Post 282. Since transferring he has been Post Commander, Western Maryland District Commander, Sgt. at Arms for the Department of Maryland, and Department Vice Commanders. Lew represented over 60,000 Veterans residing in the state as the State of Maryland Department Commander.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his Brother Richard Trott, Daughter, Stacy Chillcott, son Michael Duffy, stepdaughter Donna Starke, daughter-in-law Tina Trott, his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Lew was predeceased by his parents Lewis Earl Trott, Sr and Alice Ruth Trott and his son, Jason Trott, Sr.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Fred), 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.

A celebration of Lew's life journey will take place at 11 am on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Fred), 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD. Service conducted by

Post 282 Commander Michael Strausbough Navy Veteran and Post 282 Service Officer Dwight Reynolds Air Force Veteran.

Interment will be at Glade Cemetery in Walkersville, MD.

Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 282 Woodsboro, MD.

Luncheon and Fellowship Immediately following burial Woodsboro American Legion 101 W. Elizabeth Street Woodsboro, MD 21798,Upstairs Hall.
