Letha E. Parris, 89, formerly of Frederick, died Friday, April 3, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mt. Airy, Maryland.
Born January 17, 1926 in Abingdon, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Leonard F. and Bessie Diealpha Roark Norris. She was preceded in death by her husband, King Charles Denton Parris, June 4, 1996.
She was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, Maryland and former member of Spoon Gap Baptist Church in Abingdon, Virginia.
Letha is survived by her sons, Rev. Thomas B. Parris and wife, Dorothy “Dot” Marie, of Woodbine, MD and Charles “Gene” Parris and wife, Frances, of Boiling Springs, SC; brother, Rev. Shelton Norris of Abingdon, VA; grandchildren, Louise Basore, Dale Parris, Dwayne Parris, Darren Parris, Gena Capstick, Douglas Parris; great-grandchildren, Thomas Parris, Michael Parris, Anthony Basore, Mackenzie Capstick and Ryan Capstick.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy A. Norris Proffet, infant Mary V. Norris and Eula Lee Norris Skeen; and one brother, Martin Junior Norris.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick with Rev. Herbert Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Airy.
