Mr. Lester McLain Luhn, 80, formerly of Frederick County and more recently of Rock Hall, MD, died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. He was the husband of the late Margaret Virginia Brown Luhn.
Born December 15, 1931 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Charles Bradley and Helen Martha Smith Luhn. Mr. Luhn worked as a plumber for General Services Administration, retiring after 27 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, archery, golf, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Luhn was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 228 of Rock Hall.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Schmitt and husband, Charles, of Rock Hall; his son, Tom Luhn and his wife, Kimberly, also of Rock Hall; his grandchildren, David Hickerson, Kayla Luhn, and Mackie Luhn; two brothers, Charles Luhn and wife, Betty; and James Luhn and wife, Mary; sister-in-law, Pat Luhn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Geraldine Luhn, and his brother, Kenneth Luhn.
Funeral services for Mr. Luhn will begin at 12 noon on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jefferson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Officiating will be the Rev. Katrina L. Holland.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
