Lester Sanford "Sam" Gossard, 69, of 8448 Tusings Way, Boonsboro, MD, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at his home.
Born July 8, 1938 in Washington County, MD, he was the son of the late Charles and Ethel Wright Gossard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Mae Moats Gossard, on Dec. 30, 2005.
He was formerly employed with W.D. Byron Tannery in Williamsport and he farmed.
He is survived by two daughters, Diana L. Cook of Hagerstown and Laura S. Gossard of Boonsboro; two sons, Michael L. Gossard of Clear Spring and Fred G. Gossard of Sharpsburg; one sister, S. Virginia Leigh of Clear Spring; four brothers, Melvin Gossard and Clarence Gossard, both of Sharpsburg, Ralph Gossard and Marvin Gossard, both of Hagerstown; one grandson, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Rudesill, and two brothers, Nelson Gossard and Ronald Gossard.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Richard G. Hembrock will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery near Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
