Leslie Eugene Wachter, 82, of Frederick, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He was the husband of the late Evelyn Delphey Wachter who passed away on November 23, 2007.
Born December 31, 1928 in Charlesville, he was the son of the late Leslie Drew Wachter and Margaret Carmack Wachter.
Mr. Wachter served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Over his more than 30 year career with the U.S. Government as a civilian employee he worked at the Department of Commerce, Fort Detrick, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the agency from which he retired.
Mr. Wachter was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Frederick, a life member of the Frederick County Agricultural Society, a 35 year member of the Model “A” Ford Club of America, a “Hall of Fame” member of the Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, a member of the Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company, and a life member of the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company with more than 50 years of service. He enjoyed his volunteer service, working on his antique cars and attending car shows, and entertaining family and friends at home.
Mr. Wachter is survived by a daughter, Le Anna Wachter, of Frederick; a brother, Edward L. Wachter of Lewistown; four sisters Katherine Young and Edna Rhoads of Frederick, Virgie Miller of Westminster and Judith Wrecics of Keystone Heights, FL; a sister-in-law, Jan V. Delphey of Frederick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Sunday, March 27
th
from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM.
A private grave side service will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
