Mr. Leroy Simms, 77, of Walkersville, MD, formerly of Frederick, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband for 58 years of Elsie Simms.

Born May 8, 1937 in Lucketts, VA, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Simms.

Leroy retired from Essroc after 27 years in 1999.

Leroy was a life-long New York Yankees fan and was rarely seen without his signature Yankees baseball cap.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Charles Simms and wife, Janice, of Walkersville, MD; Corey Simms and wife, Rene, of Trinity, FL; and Bernard Simms and wife, Alda, of Frederick, MD. Leroy also leaves to cherish his memory: numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Mallory of Walkersville, MD, and Artiene Berry and husband, Sonny, of San Antonio, TX and one brother-in-law, Joseph Morrison and wife, Pat, of Hagerstown, MD.

He was predeceased by a son, Tyrone Morrison; and a daughter, Althea Gulliford, and several siblings; including special sister, Hilda (Toodles) Morrison.

The family will receive family and friends on Monday, December 29th; between 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD 21703. Funeral services will begin immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Rex R. Bowens, Sr. will officiate.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick, MD 21701.
