LeRoy Hansberger

LeRoy S. Hansberger 81, of Ijamsville, passed away on November 19, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of Charlotte Brown Hansberger for 57 years.
He was born on August 19, 1932 in Mt. Jackson, VA to the late Archie Owen Sr., and Mary Beetz Hansberger.
He was a graduate of Mt. Airy High School, a U. S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He served in the National Guard before the war and after. He was past commander of the Korean War Veterans Chapter 142 Frederick. He was a member of the Damascus American Legion Post # 171, Life member of Mt. Airy VFW, State of Maryland Korean War Veterans officer, a ten year member of the Frederick County Roads Board. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus Assembly member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church. He had worked for Woodfield Ford and Damascus Motors for many years as a auto salesman.
He was an avid sports fan and coached his sons Flag Football Team in Damascus for five years while they were three year champions. He also coached Big Henry's slow pitch softball team from Woodfield Ford. He was a 28 year season ticket holder of the former Baltimore Colts and closely followed the Ravens, Orioles and University of MD sports. He enjoyed taking his granddaughter Mary to compete in Horse Shows.
LeRoy lived a long and happy life being able to support family and being able to give Mary in marriage on October 25, 2013.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children Richard S.Hansberger and wife Karon of Clarksburg and Stephen C. Hansberger and companion Jenny of Ijamsville. One brother Anthony N. Hansberger and wife Gloria of Conway S. C. Grandchildren, Brian, Tommy, Christopher, Ricky, Michael, Anthony, and Mary Elizabeth. 12 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Anne Marie Giuliani and a brother Archie O. Hansberger Jr. He will be missed by his dogs, Max, Abby and Bailey and his miniature donkeys Magic and Herbie.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & Friday, November 22, 2013 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike,Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23, 2013, 11:00 am at the St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 4103 Prices Distillery Road Ijamsville, MD, 21754 with Father Michael Jendrek officiating.
Burial will take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church or to the Korean War Veterans Chapter 142, Frederick.
