Leontine Thomas Doyle, age 96, of 8507 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Fahrney-Keedy Home near Boonsboro.
Born Jan. 9, 1912 in Whitney, Nebraska, she was a daughter of the late Frank P. and Olive Eugenia Scofield Thomas.
Leontine was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Leroy Doyle, on Dec. 7, 2005.
She had formerly taught school in Nebraska and then retired after 24 years with the Washington Co. Board of Education at Boonsboro Elementary School.
Leontine was a member of Christ Reformed Church in Hagerstown and formerly with Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Boonsboro.
She was a member of Washington Co. Retired Teachers Assn., Washington Co. Ornithological Society, Women's Club and Crossroads Garden Club.
Leontine is survived by two daughters, Zada K. Yumlu and husband Salih V. of Hagerstown, and Jane Doyle Cogswell and husband Arthur E. of Hanover, MD; six grandchildren, Scott E. Stouffer, Kent E. Stouffer, Erin K. Botkin, Ingrid K. Retherford, Leif Doyle Cogswell and Angela M. Cogswell; four step grandchildren, Paul S. Yumlu, Suzan Z. Kaylor, Christopher K. V. Yumlu, and Beth A.K. Yumlu; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen LaRue Norman, and two brothers, Eugene Thomas and Marion E. Thomas.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Monday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Revs. Don R. Stevenson and Rebecca Hoover will officiate. Burial will be in the Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 9 to 10 A.M. at the funeral home.
