Leon C. “Lee” Larson passed away on March 14, 2018, in Frederick, MD. Born in Estherville, IA, on November 8, 1949, he was the son of the late Lester C. Larson and Florence C. (Skogstrom) Larson. Lee graduated in 1967 from Sherburn High School in Sherburn, MN, and was a graduate of The George Washington University in Washington, DC. In February 1972, he was united in marriage to Gail Y. Lee served in the United States Navy for more than 30 years as a Hospital Corpsman, Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman and Command Master Chief. He spoke often of his time with the United States Marine Corp as a “Doc,” and two 18-month tours of duty in Antarctica in support of the National Science Foundation as the only medical provider for Research Station Siple. He retired from the Navy in 2001 and continued to work for the federal government for the Departments of the Navy, Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Gail Larson of Frederick; two daughters, Heather Clipson and Summer Duncan, sons-in-law Chris / Dave Clipson and Brandon Duncan and four grandchildren, Justin Clipson, Riley Clipson, Emma Duncan and Campbell Duncan. Lee loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; driving his Jeep in the mountains while listening to Jimmy Buffet; and playing with his beloved dogs.
