Leonard Weaver

Leonard W. Weaver, 68, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born on May 12, 1945, in Maugansville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Howard Preston and Vergie Elizabeth (Burkett) Weaver.

Leonard served with the West Virginia Air National Guard and was a member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro.

He was employed with Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, Martin Marietta in Baltimore, and Northrop Grumman in both California and Hagerstown.

Leonard enjoyed hunting and fishing, and will be fondly remembered by his family for his talent to build just about anything.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. (Kelly) Weaver; four daughters, Kristine D. Gearhart and husband Stacy of Keedysville, Jody L. Solesbee of Tryon, North Carolina, Angela V. Ewoldt of Momence, Illinois, and Tina M. Hamilton and husband Jeffrey of Keedysville; three brothers, H. Leon "Sonny" Weaver and wife Priscilla of Hagerstown, Donald P. Weaver of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and Ronald D. Weaver of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He will also be missed by his loving golden retrievers, Chase and Cassy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Hykes, and a brother, Eugene Weaver.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

The family will also receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 with a funeral ceremony to be held at 2 p.m. at Samples Manor Church of God, 2128 Harpers Ferry Road in Sharpsburg, Maryland.  Pastor Douglas Sandman will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Samples Manor Cemetery.
