Leonard Daniel Emmert, 100, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Ravenwood Assisted Living, Hagerstown, Maryland. He was the beloved husband of the late Gracia Regina Barnhart Emmert for 56 years.
Born on October 14, 1920, in Boonsboro, Maryland, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Netti (Foltz) Emmert.
Leonard was a farmer in the Boonsboro area. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro. Leonard proudly served in the US Army during WWII, serving with the 91th Division in Italy, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14, AMVETS, Post 10 and AARP.
He is survived by his children Albert L. Sheffler and wife Carolyn of Boonsboro, Gary L. Swales and wife Cindy and Charles C. Reger, Jr. and fiance Patricia L. Frazier of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Early and sister Lena C. Harshman.
The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Bast Stauffer Funeral Home, 7607 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
A celebration of Leonard's life journey will take place Friday, May 28 at Bast Stauffer Funeral Home, at 1PM.
Interment will be at Boonsboro Cemetery in Boonsboro, Maryland.
