Leonard Easterday

Leonard M. “Red” Easterday, 79, of Greenbriar Road in Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his daughter’s home in Hagerstown.

Born on January 17, 1932, in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Granville and Ruth (Toms) Easterday.

Mr. Easterday was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War.

He was a member of Mt. Lena United Methodist Church.

Red retired in 1995 after forty-five years with Pangborn Corporation and later worked for four years at the Valley Mall.

He is survived by his wife, Natalie J. (Barnhart) Easterday; his daughter, Brenda K. Cole and her husband Terry; three sisters, Catherine Moser and Beverly Weigand, both of Boonsboro, and Shirley Schroyer of Hagerstown; one brother, Jacob Easterday of Boonsboro; two granddaughters, Lauren and Allison Cole of Hagerstown; and one great-granddaughter, Alexys Mills of Hagerstown.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by two brothers, Granville Easterday, Jr. and Ronald Easterday.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  Rev. Ray Dudley will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Mt. Lena United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the funeral home.
