Mrs. Leona K. Necessary, 88, of Frederick, died Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Lorien Life Center, Mt. Airy. She was the wife of the late Howard B. Necessary who died in 1997.
Born July 14, 1926 in Scott County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arley Ashworth and Emma Jones.
Leona retired as a restaurant manager at Eddie Leonard's sandwich shop in Silver Spring, MD.
A woman of great faith in the Lord, she was a member of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Tennessee.
Leona was known as a wonderful cook with her most requested dishes included her meatloaf and coleslaw; but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Veilleux and husband Pierre of Frederick; a son, James "Billy" Davidson and wife Sandi of Frederick; one foster daughter, Grace "Cherl" Harding of Sykesville; five grandchildren: Thomas Hurst and wife Lorrie, Wayne Hurst and wife Amy, Katherine Bigger Fernandez and husband Glen, Susan E. Hashmall and husband Dean, and Victoria Davidson, as well as foster grandchildren, Jennifer and Stefani Harding; great-grandchildren, Michael, Samantha, Cody, Logan, Shane, Autumn, Ricky, Madison and Austin; two great-great grandchildren, Mason and Macie and two foster great-great grandchildren, Kobe and Amaya.
Leona was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Ethel and Roger Wimberly and a grandson, James Patrick Davidson.
Family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Boulevard, Mt. Airy. Additional services will take place through the Gray Funeral Home, 132 Chapel Rd.,Gray, TN where the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, March 13, and services will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, March 14 with Pastor Johnny Minks officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Bluefield, Va.
