Leona Mahon

Leona E.  Mahon, 99, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed from this life on  April 30, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 15, 1921, in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of  the late George Leo Pistor and Mary Florence (Fritsch) Pistor.

She was the loving wife of the late Dominic Mahon, her husband of 39 years.

Leona loved to play Bingo. she was very active at her church and the Mt. Airy Senior Club, she always had her bags packed and waiting for the next trip the club was planning.

She is survived by her son, Don Mahon and his wife, Deborah; grandchildren, Jerry, Melissa, Kathleen, Emily and Christopher Mahon and wife, Lisa and Jennifer Lowe and husband, Christopher; great grandchildren, Lauren and Dominic Mahon; Alexus Jones, Brody and Kaitlyn Mahon and Zachary Lowe; nieces, May Kay and Anna Rose McManamon, Janice Pistor; nephews, Patrick McManamon, Kenny Shaffer and Bobby Pistor; brother-in-law, Hayward (Sharkey) Schaefer.  She is also survived by many other dear family members.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Mahon and daughter-in-law, Bonnie; sisters, Marion McManamon and Joan Schaefer and brother, Buddy Pistor; sister-in-law, Romaine Pistor; brother-in-law, Edward McManamon.

The family will have a Memorial Mass at St. Michael Catholic Church at a later date.

Due to the Coronavirus State Mandate a private interment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in  Silver Spring, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church at Poplar Springs Building Fund, 1125 St. Michael's Road, Mount Airy, MD, 21771 .
