Leon Slifer

Leon Norris "Pappy" Slifer, 89, of Lakin Avenue in Boonsboro, passed from this life on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born on November 19, 1922, he was the son of the late Clarence Elmer and Lulu Edith (Norris) Slifer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie E. (Fling) Slifer on March 15, 2008.

Mr. Slifer was a veteran of World War II having serviced in the United States Army.

He was a retired employee from Fairchild Corporation.

He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Ann Flory and her husband Terrance of Hagerstown.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawna Darlene Slifer in 2004.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be held privately.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, Post Office Box 55, Rohrersville, Maryland, 21779.
