Mr. Leo Alfred Harvey, 86 years old, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009. He was the husband of Betty May Robinson, his only true love.
He is survived by his sister, Aline Ayotte of Lowell, Mass.; his brother, Richard Harvey of Dracut, Mass.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a myriad of friends and neighbors.
Born and raised in Lowell, Mass., he was the son of Jules Alfred and Maria Lafreniere, naturalized French Canadians.
He had two other brothers, Roland and Raymond both whom were deceased at a young age.
He served 20 years in the United States Navy, from 1942 to 1962. He was in the armed guard during World War II and spent the remainder of his tours on destroyers. After his retirement he worked at the Naval Ordinance Labs in Silver Spring, in the Circuit Board Model Shop for 10 years.
In the '80s he and Betty moved to Jefferson.
He was active in the United Church of Christ, Naval Fleet Reserves, Ruritan, and the Jefferson Fire Department where he felt honored to hold the post of Chaplain. He was a life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9pm. Wednesday, Sept. 9 at the Jefferson United Church of Christ, 3837 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson.
Services:
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at the church with Chad Weddle officiating.
Interment will be in the Jefferson Reformed Cemetery.
