Leo Mecler, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on November 12, 1949, Leo led a life filled with love, service, and adventure.
Leo is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories. Leo was the proud father of Kimberly Wagner (husband Erich) and Jason Mecler (wife Alison). His grandchildren Henry, Greta, Philip, and Max brought him immense joy and were a constant source of pride. He is survived by his sister Agnes Walker (husband Terry) and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leo honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and after his service, he continued his career as a Service Engineer at Perkin Elmer, where he worked until his retirement. He was known for his dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence.
In his personal life, Leo was passionate about spending time with his family, exploring the great outdoors, and enjoying bike rides. He and Barbara traveled extensively, with Hawaii holding a special place in their hearts. Leo was also an active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church and his community, giving his time as a volunteer and always ready to lend a helping hand.
Leo's kindness, warmth, and love for his family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of service, devotion, and adventure will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of his loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 E. Church Street, Frederick, with a Celebration of Life immediately following the service.
