Lawrence Nevine Routzahn Sr of Middletown, MD passed away peacefully Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Autumn Lake Nursing Home in Frederick, MD. Lawrence also known as Larry and to some Willie, was born in Frederick County, Maryland on March 12, 1939 to the late George Ezra Routzahn and Stella Mae Green Routzahn.
Larry was one of 10 children. He attended Middletown, MD schools until he was needed fulltime helping his parent's farm. He spent most of his life as a diary farmer, finishing with some years working at Montgomery Vault in Woodsboro before retirement.
Married to the late Patricia L. Routzahn in 1993 whom passed in 2012, he is survived by his two sisters, Edna Marlene Payne and husband, Gary, of Frederick and Shirley Ann Hege and husband, Clair, of Gerogia; sons, Lawrence, Jr. and wife, Trish, of Frederick and Christopher Heath of Frederick; as well as his step-daughters, Mickey Arroyo of Frederick, April Renee Duruttya and husband, Bradley, of Middletown and Jessica Lee Young and husband, Derek, of Jefferson. Larry is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandy, Zachary, Christina, Rayann, Felicity, Nathaniel, Selina, Skyler, Daisy and Avah; as well as great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was always willing to give a helping hand and to share his life knowledge and know-hows. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, fishing, working on cars, gardening, puzzles, listening to country music (Willie Nelson was a favorite), watching westerns and most importantly attending car shows with his 1973 Grand Torino Sport where he received many plaques and awards.
At this time there will be no services and a celebration of life to honor Lawrence will be held next year.
