Lawrence Purdy

Mr. Lawrence Garrett "Jack" Purdy, Jr., 76 of Falling Waters, W VA, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Somerford House Assisted Living near Hagerstown. He was the husband of Helen Virginia Purdy, his wife of 57 years.
Born August 18, 1932 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Lawrence G. Purdy Sr. and Clara Stine Purdy.
Mr. Purdy worked as a machine set-up operator for Mack Trucks in Hagerstown for 29 years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and National Muzzle Loaders Assoc. He enjoyed crafts, Indian Folk crafts, Mountain Men Rendevous, fishing and hunting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Lance W. Purdy and wife Colleen of Hagerstown and their children Brandon and Deanna, Joan D. Sexton of Myersville and her children Jennifer and Jaime, and Steven R. Purdy and wife Debra of Walkersville and their children Christopher and Justin, and one great grandson Devon Purdy.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD. Interment will be private.
