Lauretta Butts

Lauretta (Itnyre) Butts, 96, of Gapland, Maryland, passed away on October 19, 2010 at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born on June 3, 1914 in Funkstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Elizabeth A. (Turpin) Itnyre.  Her husband, Paul S. Butts, preceded her in death on October 17, 1985.

Mrs. Butts was a member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren and was last employed at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village in Boonsboro.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia and her husband George Burtner of Clear Spring, Maryland and Dorothy and her husband Nelson Alexander of Hagerstown; and her five grandchildren, Daniel Burtner and his wife Cammie and Michael Burtner and his wife Kim, of Clear Spring; Henry Burtner and his wife Trina, Linda and her husband Larry Curry, and Kyle Alexander and his wife Karen, all of Hagerstown.  She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Lauretta was preceded in death by her four sisters and three brothers.

A graveside funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Old Brownsville Cemetery on Boteler Road in Brownsville, Maryland.  Rev. Alan M. Smith will officiate.

Family and friends are invited to visit anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010.  There will be no formal receiving of friends by the family.
