Ms. Laurena E. Reed, 54, of Frederick, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born March 30, 1958, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Cletus Dale and Elsie Mae Smith Jones.
Ms. Reed worked as a night dispatcher for the Department of Public Works, City of Frederick, until a few years ago when her declining health prevented her from working. She previously had worked at the following places: Polettos Pizza Shop, Cashier at Woolworths, manager at High's Dairy Store, Ingram's Diner in Jefferson and delivering papers for both the Washington Post and Frederick News Post. She was a devoted member of South End Baptist Church in Frederick. She was deeply religious and loved reading the bible and listening to preachers on television.
She is survived by her son James Reed and his wife, Lisa, of Frederick; two sisters, Jeannie Andrews and husband Paul of Thurmont, and Beverly Ingram and husband Jim of Jefferson as well as and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at South End Baptist Church, 506 Carrollton Drive, Frederick. Officiating will be the Rev. J. Kenneth Stalls.
