Mrs. Laura E. Shelley, 68, of Lewistown died on Thursday January 9 2014 at Gettysburg Hospital. She was the wife of Jerry E. Shelley for 50 years. They were married on October 4, 1963.
Born on June 8, 1945 in Washington D. C. she was the daughter of the late Kenneth P. and Viola L. White Dalzell of Mt Ranier, Maryland.
Laura retired in 2010 as admin assistant to the Honorable Judge John H. Tisdale of the Circuit Court in Frederick. Her passions were entertaining, quilting, reading, time at the beach and traveling.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son Robert A. Shelley and wife Barbara Y. Shelley And a daughter Angelia C. Shelley-Ridenour and husband Timothy O. Ridenour, all from Thurmont, MD stepson James A. Welter of Salida Colorado. Brother Kenneth B. Dalzell of Pompano Beach Fla. proceeded in death by sister Katherine L. Smith grandchildren Brooke Shelley Fogle and Carly Anne Ridenour
The family will receive friends on Monday January 13, 2014 from 4-6pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Memorial services will begin at 6:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private.
In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Jessica Lunken, Director of Development, The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine, 550 Broadway, Suite 914 Baltimore, MD 21205. This donation will go towards the Johns Hopkins Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and Young-Onset Dementias Clinic.
