Mrs. Laura Viola Ramsburg, 97, formerly of Walkersville, entered peacefully into rest with her family by her side on Saturday, April 19, at Tranquility of Fredericktowne Assisted Living in Frederick.
She was the loving wife of the late Glenn Grayson Ramsburg.
Born on January 28, 1917 near Woodsboro, she was a daughter of the late Kenley and Myra Fogle Dorsey.
Mrs. Ramsburg worked many years as a seamstress in Woodsboro and Walkersville.
Mrs. Ramsburg was a longtime member of Glade United Church of Christ in Walkersville. She loved gardening, home canning, cooking, sewing, and her church.
Surviving are one son, Grayson Ramsburg Sr. and wife Sylvia of Clarksburg MD; sister-in-law, Evelyn Dorsey Smith of Frederick; sister-in-law Charlotte Young of Walkersville; four grandchildren Grayson Ramsburg Jr. and husband Lyle Furr of Middletown, Cathy Clarke and husband Tommy of Frederick, Teresa Burdette of Frederick, and Dale Crigger and wife Crystal of Kemptown; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ramsburg was preceded in death by one sister, Elva Nusbaum; three brothers, LeRoy Dorsey, and twins Sherman and Norman Dorsey; and Dan Burdette, husband of Teresa.
Mrs. Ramsburg will also be remembered by special friends Pat and Floyd Rhinecker of Damascus.
The family would like to thank her loving caregivers from Tranquility of Fredericktowne Assisted Living and from Carroll Hospice of Westminster.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville on Thursday, April 24th, from 3pm to 5pm and from 7pm to 9pm.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25th, at the Glade United Church of Christ with Mrs. Ramsburg's pastor, the Rev. Philip Neal Curran officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery in Woodsboro.
