LaRue Wolfe

July 23, 1919 — May 12, 2014

LaRue B. Wolfe, 94, a resident of Emeritus Assisted Living in Hagerstown, Maryland, and formerly of Myersville, Maryland, passed away on Monday evening, May 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 23, 1919, in Myersville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie (Marker) Rowe.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Wolfe on July 14, 1997.

In her early working career, LaRue worked at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, where she was a "Rosie the Riveter," working on C-119 flying boxcar planes.  After the war years, she stayed home and helped raise her grandchildren.

LaRue was a lifelong member of Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church in Myersville.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and gardening.

She is survived by her two daughters,  Sharon Arneson of Cumming, Georgia and Nancy Bruce of Alexandria, Pennsylvania; and her son, Terry Wolfe of Middletown, Maryland.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sheri Bruce; three sisters, Nellie Ernst, Ellen Thomas, and Naiomi Ward; and two brothers, William and Austin Rowe.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church, 11240 Pleasant Walk Road, Myersville, Maryland 21773.  Rev. Nancy Green and Rev. Randall Reed will officiate.   Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Garfield United Methodist Church Cemetery in Smithsburg, Maryland.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.
