Larry Mundy, Sr.

Larry Eugene Mundy, Sr., 78, of Thurmont, MD died Thursday, October 13, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends.

He was the beloved husband of Joyce Hood Anthony.

Born on November 18, 1937, in York, PA , he was the son of the late Robert and Frieda (Bailey) Mundy.

Larry proudly served in the Marine Corps. He worked at Miller and Long Concrete Construction Company and at MHW Group at the Chambersburg Cold Storage location until his retirement.

Larry was a member of the Marine Corps League CPL Dean Detachment, an active member of the Thurmont Lions Club and the Lewistown United Methodist Church. Larry was awarded several Lions Club awards, including Volunteer of the Year and the TLC Distinguished Service Award. Larry was an inspiration to everyone and a pillar of the Thurmont community. He treated everyone as an equal.

In addition to his loving wife, Larry is survived by his son, Larry Mundy, Jr. of West Friendship and daughter, Brenda Hoffman (Frank) of Mt. Airy; daughter-in-law, Debbie Brown (Tim); step-son, Mark Anthony (Stacie) of Harrisburg, NC; siblings, Lois Pritchett (Sonny), Delores Knight (Junior), Ruth Sheets (Jim), Gerald Mundy (Kay); grandchildren, Melody, Monica, Carolyn, Jennifer, Lauren, Matthew, Autumn, Kadee and Noelle; great-grandson, Benjamin and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Mundy; son, Robert Mundy; step-son, Dwayne Anthony; sisters, Betty Browning and Helen Steneman; brother, Marlin Mundy; as well as nephew, Lynn Mundy.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont, MD on Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm where funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 10 am. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thurmont Lions Club, PO Box 306, Thurmont, MD 21788 or to Lewistown United Methodist Church, 11032 Hessong Bridge Road, Thurmont, MD 21788.
