Larry Wayne Grove, 81, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and family man known for his service oriented and kind easy-going nature, left us peacefully on September 3, 2024 at Frederick Health Hospital. Larry lived a life dedicated to serving his family, community, and country.
Born on March 30, 1943 in Frederick, Maryland, he was a son of the late Chester L. and Emma (Miller) Grove. A 1961 graduate of Frederick High School he proudly served in the US Marine Corps. Larry earned a degree in Business Management from Mount St. Mary’s College and an MBA from Hood College and had a successful career in cost accounting for many years. One of Larry’s proudest accomplishments was establishing The Grove Foundation Fund supporting the greatest needs of veterans and soldiers residing in Maryland.
As a passionate golfer, his favorite place to be was with friends and family at Penn National Golf Course Larry was also a great cook of traditional American fare, an avid moviegoer, a dedicated gardener, and a lover of nature and animals.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Price Grove and children: Scott (Dawn), Randy (Lisa), Jason, Kelly Horning (Steve) and Jamie, and his grandsons Daniel, Hunter, Colby, Ryan, Braden, and Asher.
Larry was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses: James “Jim “ and June Grove, Dolores “Fran “ and Dick Lochner, Katherine “Kitty” and John Bradshaw, Chester L. “Tommy” and Ronnie Grove and a granddaughter, Ashley.
Larry Grove will forever reside in our hearts and minds as a beacon example of man’s commitment to kindness and land stewardship and will be greatly missed.
A cause that lived in Larry’s heart was the protection of Maryland's wildlife so, to honor his memory and in lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to the Second Chances Wildlife Center, a non profit that rehabilitates injured, ill, and orphaned wildlife. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 11 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Stauffer Funeral Home. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
