Lana Jane (Baker) Walters, 77, of Leesburg, Florida, passed from this life on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Avente' of Leesburg Nursing Home.
Born on December 2, 1937, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Annabelle (Bowers) Baker.
Lana was a 1955 graduate from Boonsboro High School, and a 1958 graduate from the Washington County Hospital Nursing School. She worked most of her life as a Registered Nurse.
She was a member of Benevola United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, and along with her husband was a volunteer with Habitat of Humanity as well as the Servants on Wheels Ever Ready (SOWERS) organization.
Lana will be remembered for her love for travel and her family will always hold special their summer camping trips across the country.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ronald E. Walters; two daughters, Kristina M. Walters of Allentown, Pennsylvania and Lorena J. Spickler of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; one son, Mark E. Walters and wife Amy of Waynesboro; one sister, Florence Moore also of Waynesboro; her sister-in-law, Joan Davidson of Niles, Michigan; her brother-in-law, Francis N. Walters of Ft. Myers, Florida; and her two cousins, Daniel and Otho Baker, both of Boonsboro. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicholas, Lindsay, Alaina, Ryan, Noah and Sarah; and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Church Road, in Boonsboro. Rev. John H. Dean will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
