L. Reed, Jr.

October 21, 1950 — May 10, 2012

Mr. L. Kenneth “Ken” Reed, Jr., 61, of Springfield, Virginia, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at his home.  He was the husband of  Elaine Marie Kitts Reed.

Ken was born October 21, 1950 in Thurmont, MD, the son of Helen Pauline Fitze Reed of Florida and the late Leon Kenneth Reed, Sr.

Mr. Reed graduated from Thurmont High School class of 1968. Ken served his Country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was employed as a salesman/Assistant Manager at Service Master, Home Depot, Sleepy’s Mattresses and was owner of a Service Master Franchise.  Ken pride and joy was driving his 2004 red convertible corvette.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by  three sisters Pamela Lynn Sharer and husband  Robert, Melissa Reed, Evelyn Adele Anahory and husband Scott all of Ocala, FL and a brother Joseph William Reed and wife Jane Ellen of Taneytown and numerous nieces and nephews.  Ken was very close to, and is also survived by,  his father-in-law and mother-in-law Richard and Evelyn Kitts of Culpeper, VA.  He will also be remembered by many friends and family members.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Sunday, May 13, from 2-4 and 6-8:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 14,  2012 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, N. Church Street, Thurmont with Father Lawrence  Donohoo as celebrant.
Interment Blue Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Capital Caring, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042 or Inova Fairfax Hospital, 3300 Gallows Road,  Falls Church, VA  22042.
