Kyle Patrick Addington, 16, of Frederick passed away at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 following a courageous seven-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. By his side were his loving and devoted parents, Mike and Wendy, and his older brother, Ryan.

Born on April 10, 1999 in Olney, Kyle was a rising junior at Oakdale High School where he was a wrestler for the Oakdale Bears.

He enjoyed computer gaming, being with his family and cheering on the Orioles and Ravens. He loved to travel, and just last week, Kyle and his family enjoyed a trip to Disney World made possible through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Kyle was a thoughtful, kindhearted young man with a gentle spirit that endeared him to those who knew him. He is described by his parents as a "brave, fearless fighter who never gave up hope." His wish was that someday we will find a cure for cancer.

Kyle was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents and brother, Kyle is survived by his grandparents, Charlie and Carol Shawver of Frederick, and Jim and Maria Addington of Middletown; his aunts and uncles, Bob and Renee Shawver of Woodsboro, Theresa Schoonover of Middletown, and Jim and Amanda Addington of Frederick; and six cousins, Kasey and Danielle Shawver, Jessie and Jenna Schoonover, Alex Stickelman (Jordan), and Philip Addington.

He was predeceased by an infant cousin, Danielle Schoonover.

In celebration of Kyle's life, friends are asked to join us at the social hall of Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, MD 21769 at noon on Saturday, July 25. Kyle's family will be available to receive friends until 3 pm during this informal gathering.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic, 5272 River Road, Suite 700, Bethesda, MD 20816, midatlantic.wish.org; or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in hopes of finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Arrangements are being handled by Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick and Stauffer Crematory, Inc. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.staufferfuneralhome.com.
