Ms. Kitty Lee Gross, age 77, of Frederick, MD, passed away on January 4,2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Hagerstown, MD., on December 13, 1934, daughter of the late Mabel and Leland Gross.
Kitty was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and especially enjoyed attending the choir practices of The Sisters of Joy. She attended school in Hagerstown until the eleventh grade. For her, life began when she moved to Frederick in 1978 residing with Community Living, Inc. She worked at Goodwill Industries until her retirement in 1995. She then began participating in the Retirement
Program at Community Living, where she enjoyed working on needlepoint and any arts and crafts project. She had a love of downtown Frederick and will be remembered for walks into town, her warm smile and hello to everyone who passed. Her greatest joys were eating crabs, drinking a beer and smoking a corncob pipe. You would find her on the dance floor from start to finish. She also loved all animals and had cats where ever she lived.
Kitty will be remembered by everyone at Community Living, but especially her direct support staff Leona Duckett, Patricia Dumakor, Shannon Thomas, Tareyzza Gibson, Sahia Badamassi and Ro Mutumhe. She will also be remembered by her roommates Linda and Martha and all the attendee and staff of the Retirement Our Way Program at Community Living.
A celebration of her Life will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church at 100 W. All Saints Street, Frederick, MD on January 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. Reverend LaDelle Brooks officiating. A luncheon will follow at Community Living. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Living, Inc. 620-B Research Court, Frederick, MD 21703.
