Kimberly Craig Bohannan, 50, passed from this life August 6, 2016, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in western Frederick County. She leaves behind her husband of 28 years, Thomas P. “Pat” Bohannan, father Charles H. Craig, mother Jane Hatfield, three sisters, Kelly Morton, Millie Smith, and Joanna Burdette, a brother, Charles H. “Casey” Craig, Jr., and four rabbits, Franklin, Lady Gray, Hayden, and Bailey.

A senior strategic project manager for AstraZeneca/Medimmune, she was born and raised in the Memphis area before relocating to Nashville, then New Castle, Delaware, and finally to Frederick, Maryland. She was a 1984 graduate of Southaven High School in Mississippi, and earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Middle Tennessee State University. She served as an integral member of the staff of the Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps from 2003-2006, and served on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Rockwood. She also volunteered in a variety of capacities with different organizations throughout her life and had just recently begun singing with the National Philharmonic Chorale.

Kim was a gentle soul widely known as a person who put other peoples’ needs above hers and was always willing to help anyone in need, regardless of whether she knew them or not. Her infectious smile made everyone’s day. She enjoyed baking and was widely lauded for the treats she created for both humans and rabbits. Her flavored breads have won numerous first place and Best of Show awards at state and local fairs. She also enjoyed playing tennis, hiking, cross-stitching, playing with her rabbits, and spending time in Yellowstone National Park.

Visitation for the Frederick service will be held at Stauffer’s Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland, on Saturday, August 13th, from 2PM until 4PM, with a memorial service to follow.

A subsequent service will be held in Senatobia, Mississippi on August 20th. Visitation will be from 1PM to 3PM at the Pate-Jones Funeral Home, 4174 Hwy 51 South, Senatobia, MS 38668, followed by a memorial service at 3PM.

Kimberly’s remains will be cremated and her ashes spread on Mt. Washburn in Yellowstone National Park, overlooking Amphitheater Valley. This was among her most favorite spots in the park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your local rabbit rescue organization (Bunny Lu Rabbit Rescue, P.O. Box 902, Moneta, VA, 24121, is the one for the immediate AZ/Medimmune Frederick/MontCo area). Kim was an avid lover of all things bunny, and would have loved it if you helped support an organization that took care of abandoned and rescued rabbits.
