Kevin Fitzgerald

Mr. Kevin L. Fitzgerald, 53, of Kearneysville, WV, formerly of Thurmont, MD, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, WV. He was the beloved husband of Debra A. Lengyel Fitzgerald.
Born February 8, 1959 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of Ethel Hurley Fitzgerald of Thurmont, MD and the late Edward Fitzgerald.
Kevin was an avid outdoorsman in all ways; loving nature, fishing, hunting, watching and feeding the birds, gardening his special roses and vegetables and was well known for his venison bologna and jerky. He also enjoyed NASCAR races and parties, watching football, music, dancing, photography, reading, cooking and canning. He loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. Kevin was a man with a huge heart, known as a "big Teddy Bear" and he never knew a stranger.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four children: Amber Fitzgerald of Brunswick, MD, Hank Wolfe and partner Jason Ambush of Hagerstown, MD, Holly Swanton and husband Nicholas of Baltimore, MD and Daniel Wolfe and wife Hannah of Martinsburg, WV; grandchildren Olivia Hicks and Braylon and Logan Wolfe; siblings Edward Fitzgerald and wife Ruthie, Barbara McElroy and husband Michael, Patrick Fitzgerald and John Fitzgerald and wife Deborah. He will also be remembered and missed by his mother-in-law, Peg, his brothers- and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many wonderful friends. Kevin will also be missed by his faithful Jack Russell companion, "Stella". He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Fitzgerald.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Tuesday, January 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where services will be held Wednesday, January 9, at 11:00 a.m. Father Michael Jendrek will officiate.
Interment will be private
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family c/o Stauffer Funeral Home.
