Kevin Brown

December 22, 1951 — December 17, 2016

Kevin Francis Brown passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on December 17, 2016 at home in Frederick, MD. Unfailingly kind hearted and generous, he is survived by the two joys of his life: his two daughters, Alison Shields of Washington, DC and Colleen Boyenton of Frederick; his devoted brother, Gary Brown of Peekskill, NY; his sons-in-law Bill Shields and Tim Boyenton; his sister-in-law, Jeri Brown; and his beloved granddaughter, Georgia Shields. He also leaves his former wife and close friend, Maryalice Rheams of Ashburn, VA and his best friend, Nancy Rempe of Frederick, MD. Earlier this year, Kevin had the great joy of joining his former wife, Jeanne Brown, in giving Colleen away in marriage.

Kevin was born on December 22, 1951 and grew up in Buchanan, NY. He relocated to Shreveport, LA as a General Motors executive in 1979 until his career path took him and his family to Frederick in 1997.  He retired in 2004 and spent many years “happy as a clam,” away from the daily grind.  He had many passions in life, and was happiest when surrounded by good newspapers and magazines, radio talk shows and British television. His delights in life included his family, horses and the racetrack, LSU sports, theater of all kinds, and eating out. He always felt a special bond to New York, but had grown to love the Frederick community. Enormously fond of cats, he leaves us his cherished Onslow.

Kevin’s unique sense of humor and fun loving persona will be missed by his many friends and family, but his many stories and adages will live on to make us laugh as we remember him. His quick witted personality will be welcomed into Heaven by God and all those he loved who now embrace him again.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 23, 2016 from 3-6pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick MD. A funeral service and burial will take place at a later date in New York.

Kevin truly cared for causes and contributed to many charities during his lifetime.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory may be made to:   Weinberg Center for the Arts or Animal Welfare League of Frederick County.
