Mr. Kenneth James Keeney, 69, of Thurmont died on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at his residence. He was the husband of Patsy Irene Holt Keeney, his wife of 50 years.
Born on November 21, 1937, in Thurmont he was the son of the late Walter David, Sr. and Jessie Mae Brice Keeney.
He was a concrete truck operator for Superior Concrete in Frederick, retiring in 2005.
Mr. Keeney served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of the Thurmont AMVETS. Kenneth enjoyed cars and trucks, coached in the Thurmont Little League, but most of all he loved going on family vacations and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 children: Billie Jo Kenney Caraker and husband Michael of Thurmont, Kenny Lee Keeney and wife Tammy of Thurmont and Benjamin David Kenney and wife Holly of Fairfield, PA; 4 grandchildren: Adam Baker and wife Malory of Fairfield, Kaylene Fraley, Kendra Keeney and Jacob Keeney all of Thurmont; 1 great grandchild, Aden Baker of Fairfield; 6 brothers and sisters: Franklin Keeney and wife Pauline, Grace Green and husband George, Geri Bowers, Betty Ann Dewees and husband Bob, Walter David Keeney, Jr. and wife Betty all of Thurmont and Charles Keeney and wife Patricia of Fairfield; a son-in-law, Steven Fraley of Thurmont, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth will also be remembered by the Holt family, his Superior Concrete family and his church family; as well as special family friend, Julie Fredlock of Fairplay.
Mr. Keeney was preceded in death by a daughter, Kennita Lou Keeney Fraley; and 2 brothers: Norris Keeney and Calvin Keeney.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on both Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont.
Services:
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 30, with Rev. Richard Broome of Wellers United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick with Robert Mcarty, Michael Grimes, Ralph Kline, George Beckett, Bucky Naill and Straford Lawyer serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
