Kenneth Ray Moore

October 2, 1971 — March 15, 2025

Knoxville

Kenneth ‘Ray’ Moore, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Baltimore. He was born on October 2, 1971, in Frederick, and spent his life dedicated to his family and his career.

For 33 years, Ray worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Moore's Excavating, a job that he approached with great pride and dedication. His passion for his work was evident to all who knew him; he often spoke fondly of his accomplishments and the satisfaction he felt in his role. While he was known for his stubbornness, it was always matched by a deep and abiding love for those around him.

Ray's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly Moore, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage and 31 years together. Their bond was unshakeable and reflected a love forged over many shared experiences, laughter, and even the occasional dad joke—he had a special talent for making people smile with his humor. Together, they raised two wonderful children: David and his wife Megan, and Brianna and her husband Caleb, who were the pride of his life. Ray was also a cherished grandfather, affectionately known as "Pappy" to his three grandchildren, Addison, Emersyn, and Buddy, who brought him immeasurable joy with every moment they spent together. He eagerly anticipated the arrival of another grandchild in September 2025 that would soon join their close-knit family.

Ray enjoyed spending time outdoors, riding 4 wheelers, and playing with his grandchildren—activities that filled his heart with happiness. He created lasting memories with his family, imparting wisdom and love through shared adventures. He was open and forthright, qualities that endeared him to many who knew him. He shared his life generously, never hesitating to lend a hand or an ear to those who needed him.

Ray's supportive nature extended beyond his immediate family. He is also survived by his brother Robert and Robert's wife Michelle; his niece Amanda Jackson; and great-nieces McKenzie Horton and Dakota Jackson, whom he considered as his own. He cherished his many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, always keeping family close to his heart.

Ray is reunited in spirit with his beloved mother, Janet; father, McArthur; brother, Junior; and sisters, Marie and Mary Jane, who will hold a special place for him in their memories.

A visitation will be held on March 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, both at the Boonsboro Family Worship Center located at 7605 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD. Rev. Jack Payne will officiate.
